Secretariat employees begin cease work strike

As the state government has failed to provide any positive response to the 9-point charter of demands submitted by Manipur Sec retariat Services Association (MSSA), employees under the aegis of MSSA have begun their cease work strike from Monday.
Interacting with the media during the cease work strike held at Old Secretariat building on Monday, MSSA president Purujit Lairikyeng-bam said that withdrawal of transfer/utilisation order of secretariat assistant (GAD) M Romen to Manipur Bhavan, Kolkata; enhance grade pay for group D, caretaker, ASO/ SO and PS employees of secretariat; provision of DA on par with central government employees starting from 2023; abolishing of national pension scheme; stopping the trend of re-engaging retired officers; immediate release of retirement benefits and pensions; and ensuring promotion process to fill up vacant posts, are some of the demands mentioned in the charter of demands submitted to the government with the ultimatum to begin cease work strike from September 5 if no positive response is not given to these demands.
It is unfortunate to see that the government is doing nothing to resolve the issue.
However, the association believes that the government will take up necessary initiatives to fulfil their demands, he said and asserted that the association is all set to continue their agitation if the government continues to ignore their demands.
