State reports 277 accidental deaths in 2021

With Manipur reporting 277 accidental deaths in 2021, the state is third in rarik among states and UTs reporting lowest deaths related with natural calamities and accidents, as per report published by National Crime Record Bureau.
According to the report, in terms of deaths related with cyclone, tsunami, landslide, lightning, torrential rainfall, forest fire and other incidents, Nagaland reported lowest death rate of 3.3 death per one lakh population followed by Lakshadweep (8.6 deaths per one lakh population) and Manipur (8.7 deaths per one lakh population).
Rates of accidental deaths among the northeast states are Arunachal Pradesh 25.4), Mizoram (19), Meghalaya (17.2), Tripura (15.6) and Assam (12.9).On the other hand, Chhattisgarh reported highest rate of accidental deaths with 59.2 deaths per one lakh population followed by Pudducherry (58), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (52.5), Haryana (52.3), Ladakh (51), Madhya Pradesh (47.7) and Maharashtra (46.7) .
Number of accidental deaths reported in the country in the last few years are 3,96,584 in 2017, 4,11,824 in 2018, 4,21,104 in 2019, 3,74,397 in 2020 and 3,97,530 in 2021 .
In terms of absolute number of accidental deaths in 2021, Maharashtra reported the highest figure with 58,242 deaths followed by Madhya Pradesh with 40,510 deaths and Uttar Pradesh with 36,521 deaths.
