Imphal, September 05 2022:
MLA Kh Joykisan has clarified that he and four other JD (U) MLAs joined BJP as they were desirous to work together with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) .
Of the five MLAs who quit JD (U) recently and joined BJP, four came back to Imphal today.
Notably, the JD (U) MLAs joined BJP after JD (U) severed ties with the NDA at the National level.
Speaking to media persons at Imphal Airport, Joykisan maintained that they won the last Assembly election from NDA's platform.
"After JD (U) left NDA, we decided to join BJP as we have a common intention to work together with the NDA," he said.
Khumukcham Joykisan was elected to the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly from Thangmeiband AC on JD (U) ticket and he was even appointed the party's legislature wing leader.

To a query, Joykisan said that they have no idea of any possible reshuffle of the Cabinet Ministers of the BJP-led State Government.
He clarified that they did not put any pre-condition when they joined BJP.
"If the JD (U) State unit is determined to take up any legal action against us, it is up to them.
But we are of the firm belief that our decision was legitimate and our move has been already approved by the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker", Joykisan said.
To another query, Joykisan maintained that he would not like to make any comment regarding MLA Abdul Nasir at the moment.
"We heard that Nasir is currently at Delhi for treatment of his father but we could not communicate with him", he said.
The five JD (U) MLAs who recently joined BJP are Kh Joykisan (Thangmeiband AC), Th Arunkumar (Wangkhei AC), LM Khaute (Churachandpur AC), Achab Uddin (Jiribam AC) and Ngursanglur Sanate (Tipaimukh AC) .
Now, Md Abdul Nasir is the lone JD (U) MLA in the State.
Out of the five MLAs, four reached Imphal this afternoon while Achab Uddin left for Jiribam via Silchar.
Notably, the five MLAs were admitted into the fold of BJP by the party's National president JP Nadda at Delhi yesterday.
