JSCC announces code of conduct

Joint Students Coordinating Committee (JSCC) has said that the committee will enforce the same 14-point code of conduct of college election introduced in 2011 in this year's election as well.
Speaking to reporters, JSCC convenor Jayenta Kumar Khuman said that all the candidates who violate this code of conduct must accept the penalty slapped by the JSCC.
He said that all the colleges would conduct students' union elections on November 2 for which nominations and scrutiny have been fixed on October 26 and October 28 respectively.
A monitoring cell of JSCC has been formed with Th Udoi Luwang as the convenor to check violation of code of conduct, he said.
The monitoring cell would be active from October 21 till the end of election process, he said.
According to the code of conduct, candidates are allowed to conduct election campaigns inside the college campus only after the code of conduct is enforced.
However, election campaigns outside the college campus is not allowed.
All the candidates are allowed to put up an A3 size poster of the candidate inside the college campus for publicity.
However, distribution of cards and posters etc which may be used as identification materials of the candidates are not allowed.
No house campaigning is permissible and no candidate and his/supporter must pick up any student from their house on the election day.
Organising feast, tea party, study tour, picnic, cinema and charity shows and distribution of sweetmeats and presentation of gifts are not allowed.
Use of intoxicants by students inside and outside the college campus during election campaign is strictly prohibited.
No student of other college is allowed to take part in campaigning.
However, visit to the college campus for other reasons is permissible.
No candidate or student must indulge in any activity which may ignite flare-ups.
No member of the monitoring cell is allowed to become a candidate, inner agent, proposer, seconder and counting agent.
No candidate is allowed to halt night at the office of the college students' union.
The monitoring cell has the power to disqualify any candidate, who violates the code of conduct and the cell may also ask any victorious candidate to resign if he/she is found violating the code of conduct.
