Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) have formed a body known as Monitoring Committee of Students' Union Election 2015-16 and issued a eight-point code of conduct for college and school elections to be effective from October 22 .
AIMS advisor Kshetrima-yum Romesh has been elected as the convenor of the committee and DESAM advisor Wangmayum Islauddin as the co-convenor, said a statement.
According to the code of conduct issued by the committee, no candidate is allowed to conduct electioneering inside college/school campus, however every candidate may put up an A4 size election poster inside the college/school campus for publicity.
No candidate must conduct house campaigning and no student/voter must be picked up by any candidate or his supporter from his/her house.
The statement further said that no identification materials like cards and posters are allowed to be distributed among students.
Feasts and tea parties are also strictly prohibited the statement said and added that nobody must use any intoxicant inside or outside the campus of the school/campus.
No student of other colleges/schools is allowed to take part in election campaigns held inside the college/school campus.
Saying that violation of code of conduct must be complained within two days, the statement said that any candidate who violates the code of conduct would be asked to resign even if he/she wins the election.
The committee urged the parents and public to extend support to effective enforcement of the code of conduct.
