Ukhrul, October 20 2015:
In a move to register strong protests against the three Bills passed by the Manipur State Assembly on August 31, Tangkhul Frontal Organizations (TFOs) have Tuesday "ostracized" Chingai-45 MLA Preshow Shimray and Phungyar-43 MLA Victor Keishing with immediate effect, while giving a 15-day deadline for Ukhrul-44 Samuel Risom to come clean about his position in the wake of tendering his resignation recently.
"The public decision to this effect was taken by TFOs during a public meeting held at 11:30 am at TNL Assembly Hall here on Tuesday," TNL president V Weapon Zimik told Hueiyen Lanpao.
"While Preshow Shimray and Victor Keishing have been ostracized for turning a deaf ear to the repeated and collective call for resignation from their posts, the public who thronged into the hall in large numbers had raised serious doubt about the position of Samuel Risom as he is allegedly still staying at MLA quarter and enjoying his honorarium and government security cover even after tendering his resignation," Zimik said.
Meanwhile, a declaration statement issued by TNL on Tuesday has said that TFOs have barred Preshow Shimray and Victor Keishing from entering the Tangkhul territory with affect from October 20, while Samuel Risom has been given a 15 day deadline to clarify his position as per the United Naga Council directive dated October 19 and the subsequent consultative meeting of TFOs on October 19 .
"Accordingly, the public meeting was convened on October 20 to make the declaration under the provision of Section Vll Article 12 (I) of TNL Constitution" .
The statement reminded that holding the district's representatives responsible for not objecting to the three anti tribal Bills passed by the State Assembly on 31 August last, TFOs had earlier served a 30 days ultimatum to the two MLAs of the district to resign from their respective posts.
"Since Preshow Shimray and Victor Keishing have failed to comply with public demand, they are banished from Tangkhul territory," the statement reiterated and cautioned that the same punishment shall befall on Samuel Risom if he would not confirm his resignation status within the deadline.
