Inquiry ordered into recruitment of 2000 police constables

Manipur Government has ordered an inquiry into the alleged serious irregularities in the recruitment process of 2000 police constables (Male/Civil) in the Manipur Police Department.
The Government issued an order to immediately halt the ongoing viva-voce test being held by the DPC headed by Th Radheshyam Singh, Commandant, 1st Manipur Rifles till the proposed inquiry is completed or until further order is issued.
The order issued by Principal Secretary (Home) JC Ramthanga said that in the ongoing selection process for recruitment of 2000 police constables, a large number of candidates were calling for "viva voce" test far in excess of the ratio fixed by the Supreme Court of India which had been reflected in the order dated 13.10.2015 passed by the Manipur High Court in WP (C) No-861, 2015 .
The order said the Government of Manipur has received a number of complaints alleging serious irregularities in the selection process of 2000 police constables.
In order to allay apprehension of the aspirant candidates and in the interest of public, the Government has decided to conduct an inquiry to find out as to the correctness of the alleged irregularities mentioned or other irregularities, if any, by a senior officer of the Government within a period of two months.
In order to facilitate holding of the inquiry as proposed, all the papers, records and minutes of the ongoing selection process should be taken over for safe custody by the Director General of Police (DGP), Manipur with immediate effect and that Chairman of the DPC and Commandant 1st Battalion, Manipur Rifles Th Radheshyam Singh should give full co-operation in handing over all the related papers, records and minutes to the DGP of Manipur Police, the order further said.
"In the above circumstances and to avoid further legal complication, it is hereby ordered that in the public interest that the ongoing viva-voce test being held by Th Radheshyam Singh headed DPC should stop immediately till the proposed inquiry is completed or until further order to be issued by the Government" it added.
Meanwhile, Constable (Male) Recruitment Board, Manipur Chairman Th Radheshyam Singh has notified that the viva-voce test of the successful candidates in the written test examination for the recruitment of police constables (male) in the Manipur Police Department which was scheduled to be held from October 22 to November 1, 2015 has been postponed indefinitely due to administrative reasons.
