Imphal, July 29 2021:
BJP spokesperson M Asnikumar has categorically stated that Congress party is once again clinging on to the false hope of forming the state government, especially considering its state unit president has left the party after realising the futility.
Commenting on MPCC interim president N Loken's statements downplaying Govindas Konthoujam's departure from the party (Congress) and instead focusing on Congress' possible return to power, Asnikumar said that the party (Congress) president's departure is a sign of growing mistrust within the party and inability to assimilate its position in tune with the present times.
The spokesperson continued: "Congress is now a sinking boat which no one wants to be on board.
The party no longer has any support in northern India and will soon be uprooted from Manipur as well, which has been proven by the resignation of its party president, not only from the post but also from the primary membership".
"The party structure of Congress has crumbled across the states due to it being a political dynasty.
It has now been reduced to a leaderless party which can only hope but can never realise its dream", he remarked.
Responding to queries on whether ex-Congress MLAs including Govindas are going to join BJP, Asnikumar said that as of now, there is no plan on whether the ex-Congress MLAs will join BJP.
However, nothing is set in stone and will depend on what may happen in the next few days, he added.
