Lamka, February 26 2014 :
A day after an IED was found on a road at Khengjang village, two other IEDs planted barely a couple of meters apart have again been detected by the Assam Rifles on the periphery of AR's 27 Sector headquarters at Tuibuong.
The two IEDs detected today at around 5.40 am by an ROP team of 7 AR was neutralised later by a team of Army bomb experts from Lei-makhong.
The explosives were said to be weighing around 3 and 8 Kgs each.
Four instances of IED cases have been reported in the district since January, but fortunately none of them have exploded, evading property damage or human casualty.
However considering the fact that the IEDs have been moving closer to the populated areas will surely be a factor of concern for the law enforcing agencies.
On January 24, two days ahead of the Republic Day, a potentially destructive IED was found near a Culvert at Kangvai, about 12kms from here.
The following day another IED was found at Kotlen about 2 kms closer from here.
Again after a gap of one month an IED was found yesterday at Khengjang about 7kms from here and today's recovery has confirmed that the IEDs have reached the district's military garrison and any further explosive placed on the same trend could be now landed well within the populated areas with severe ramification.
