Parliamentary team arrives

A team of 30 Parliamentary Standing Committee members on Ministry of Home Affairs and Chemical and Fertilisers arrived here today.
The team led by P Bhattacharya, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Home Affairs landed at the Imphal International Airport around 2.30 pm in an Air India flight.
After inspecting the newly upgraded Imphal International Airport, in a brief interaction with media persons at the airport, P Bhattacharya said that the planning and design of the airport is acceptable and the steps taken up by the State Government and Government of India should be well appreciated.
He expressed that the expansion work of new terminals would be completed in time.
When asked on the international border row with Myanmar, he said that the issue should be settled by the Central Government with its Myanmar counterparts as it is under their jurisdiction.
He added that after due confirmation from the Chief Secretary of Manipur and other Government officials, the committee members would surely recommend what steps must be taken at the earliest to resolve the border issue.
Later, a meeting was held at the Conference Hall of Old Secretariat, Imphal where the Standing Committee members along with State Government officials and Chief Secretary of Manipur discussed the problems faced by the Government in implementing various infrastructure projects in the State.
In the meeting, State Government officials gave a detailed presentation on the works taken up and gave suggestions for further developmental works.
