Imphal, May 27 2015 :
Body of the 16-year-old boy, who was found drowned suspiciously in a pond inside his school campus in Cachar district of Assam, has been claimed by his family today.
After the boy was found dead on May 22, his family brought the body from Cachar and deposited it at JNIMS morgue demanding re-post mortem examination on May 23 .
The boy has been identified as Sanasam Diyabi Singh s/o S Jiten of Wangoo Mamang Sabal Leikai.
He was a Class X student of Grace English School, Ujantarapur in Cachar district, Assam.
In a statement, convenor of the JAC constituted against the incident, Sorokhaibam Gopal said that Diyabi's body has been claimed by his family after the State Government assured them to send a three-member fact finding committee headed by a police officer not lower than DIG rank to his school to investigate the incident.
The statement further said that Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has written to his Assam counterpart Tarun Gogoi seeking his intervention and co-operation in probing the incident.
However, their demand for re-post mortem examination could not be fulfilled as it was not convenient to ask the investigating officer of the case to come to Imphal.
He also said that Wangoo locals are ready to launch different forms of agitation if the State Government fails to produce the report of the three-member fact finding committee by June 1 .
Meanwhile, family members said that the school authority did not inform them about the incident immediately.
Maintaining that the school authority disclosed the matter only after they came to know about the incident through other sources, family members said that post mortem examination was conducted without giving any prior information to them.
On May 23, Diyabi's body was brought to Imphal and deposited at JNIMS morgue demanding a fresh post mortem examination.
