Imphal, May 27 2015 :
With the Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls round the corner, major political parties have stepped up attacks against each other in a bid to woo voters.
Political parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which had been defeated in the recent Delhi assembly election are taking jibe at Congress party, Chief Minister O Ibobi ridiculed while addressing an election rally at Motbung polo ground under Senapati district on Wednesday.
He said the BJP was crushed in the Delhi election though the Prime Minister and a whopping number of ministers of the NDA Government made an all-out effort to win the election.
"The BJP has now lost people's trust and confidence," the Chief Minister claimed.
Referring to the Dzkou valley encroachment issue, Ibobi made it clear that not an inch of Manipur's land will be allowed to go to other States.
He stated, "We don't covet an inch of land from others either" .
"My Government is deeply concerned about the reported encroachment on Manipur's land in Dzkou valley in Senapati district.
The Government has already taken up the matter with the district Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police instructing to take up appropriate steps," he said.
He assured that if need be security forces will be deployed in the area and stated that such inter-state boundary dispute needs attention of the Centre, too.
CM Ibobi also said his Government has been working hard to bring about balanced development both in the valley and hill, but admitted that Manipur has limited resources.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam was also present during the campaign.
He reiterated that since the BJP came to power at the Centre, it has rescinded various development schemes of the North East, apart from revoking the special category status introduced by then Congress Government.
Gaikhangam, who is also the president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), lashed out at BJP and rejected the party's version on the Dzkou issue.
The MPCC chief said that the Congress Government headed by Ibobi has brought a new face of change in the State and dubbed the BJP a 'communal party ' .
"The BJP is propagating wrong political strategies to woo voters," he charged.
Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip, Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Rural Development Minister Francis Ngajokpa, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Affairs & Sports M Prithiviraj and Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency MP Thangso Baite were also present during the campaign organized by Sadar Hills Congress Committee.
