Imphal, May 27 2015 :
Many Churches have been vandalised after the BJP came to power at the Centre.
And a lesson can be learned from the BJP's defeat at the hands of AAP in the recent Delhi poll after people realised the communal agenda of the BJP, said Chief Minister O Ibobi.
The Chief Minister was addressing a campaign meeting cum District level Congress workers conference as part of the yearlong observance of Dr BR Ambedkar 125th birth anniversary at LS play ground, Motbung, Sadar Hills today.
O Ibobi said that many experts had been convinced to draw an inference that the integrity and unity of the Nation would be at peril if and when the BJP comes to power based on its segregationist agenda and other activities.
The Congress is committed to maintain cordial relations with the public and work for the welfare of the people by understanding the sentiments of the mass.
The BJP is fast losing public trust after it failed to deliver the poll promises it made including bringing back black money after one year of holding power at the Centre, he said.
O Ibobi further said that there would be no shortage of fund for hill area development.
It was a matter of pride for the people that Dr BR Ambedkar, who was against social discrimination, was a Congress leader.
O Ibobi also challenged the BJP to come out with evidence on when and where the funds sanctioned to the HAC have gone missing.
Speaking at the occasion, Dy CM and MPCC president Gaikhangam said that the Congress will win two-third ADC seats in the poll scheduled for June 1 .
Taking a dig at the BJP, Gaikhangam expressed apprehension that the 'Look East Policy,' started by the Congress Govt and which has been changed to 'Act East Policy' by the BJP when it assumed power at the Centre would be reduced to 'Kill East policy' by the BJP.
BJP is a party high only on rhetoric, but without any action, he said.
The scrapping of various pro-NE projects by the BJP Govt at the Centre is a testimony that the party is anti-NE, he added.
No other political parties would be able to take up the developmental projects the Congress Govt had implemented in the hill areas, Gaikhangam said.
The function was attended amongst others by MPCC general secretary and RD &PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa, Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Sericulture Minister Govindas Konthoujam, IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip, Parliamentary Secretary M Prithviraj, MP Thangso Baite, MLA Yamthong Haokip, Dy Speaker Preshow Shimray and other key leaders of the MPCC.
