ICHAM provides assistance to SEDO

Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) has extended assistance to Socio-Economic Development Organisation (SEDO) towards the construction of Tuibuong-Henglep road.
SEDO has been taking up construction of 35 kms long Tuibuong (Ccpur DHQs) - Henglep road since couple of years back without any assistance from the Govt.Major portion of the road construction has been completed now.
A function was organised yesterday at K Munpi, a village along the Tuibuong-Henglep road in honour of SEDO and ICHAM representatives.
ICHAM president N Rajendro (Boy) and member of Ccpur ADC, Paolal Haokip were the chief guest and president of the function respectively.
H Lhunpu, general secretary of SEDO said 115 kms long road connecting Henglep subdivisional headquarters and Churachandpur district headquarters was constructed in 1975 .
The condition of the road however remains deplorable.
Due to bad road connectivity, people of the subdivision faced untold miseries particularly in times of the outbreak of diseases or epidemic, he said.
SEDO, after deliberating the condition of the road, took the initiative to construct a new road connecting Tuibuong and Henglep.
The organisation started the construction of the road, known to locals as SEDO road, by purchasing second hand bull dozer, he narrated.
ICHAM donated four barrels of diesel towards the construction of the road.
With the assistance provided by ICHAM, it is hoped that the road construction will be completed before Christmas this year, he said.
N Rajendro (Boy) recounted his experience of visiting Henglep area some four/five years back.
He urged the public to extend maximum cooperation to the road construction.
He added that the Govt should be entrusted to improve the road once the cutting of the road is completed.
Rajendro also inaugurated a PHSC at Munpi village.
