Lamka, June 19 2011:
As part of the ongoing Red Shield Peace Camp organised by 39 AR here since Thursday, over 50 NCC cadets drawn from various schools and colleges in the district today embarked on a 70 km cycle rally at 27 AR headquarters.
The Singngat bound rally was flagged-off early today by the Commander of 27 Sector AR, Brig Surendra Mehta in a simple function.
The rallyist will hold a night at Singngat, about 35 kms from here, and will return to their starting point to complete the 70 kms stretch.
Ahead of the rally, the campers were given the rare opportunity of experiencing para-gliding at Peace ground, while other adventure activities like small arms firing, career counselling, motivational movies, and classes on self defence including the Isareli's hand to hand combat for soldiers Krav Maga still awaits them.
The peace camp is intended to help the army and civil population get closer and spread the message of peace and harmony in the region, an organiser said.
