Even as FREINDS has pulled up a man, who tried to organise a housie raffle to earn personal money, the civil society organisation has imposed ban on organising housie with effect from January 1, 2014. FREINDS Organisation Secretary Pebam Premkumar said that Khuleibam Sajid Khan (38) s/o Kh Azad Khan was planning to organise a housie at UJB ground without taking any permission from the locality.
It was mentioned on the ticket that the housie was to be held to gather fund for the construction of meira paibee sheds of Kontha Ahallup Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup and Kairang Muslim Women Development Association.
However, it was found that the housie was arranged by Sajid alone with permissions from the two meira paibee groups.
On being investigated by FREINDS, it was also found that the two groups already have its meira paibee sheds, Premkumar said.
He warned the individuals and groups, who are organising housie raffles as an easy means of earning personal money in connivance with Government registered bodies to stop such practices immediately.
A ban on organising housie for earning private money had already been announced by the civil society organisation a few days back, he added.
He however said that the ban is not applicable to genuine local bodies, which are planning to hold housie raffles for development activities of the locality.
Premkumar also drew the attention of the Government to check the menace of present trend housie gambling.
