IGAR (S) instructed to prevent advances of Myanmar Army: Gaikhangam

Imphal, December 23, 2013:
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in-charge of the Home Department, has instructed the IGAR (South) and other officials of Assam Rifles to take up necessary measures to prevent unwanted advances of Myanmar Army at Moreh border town.
Talking to media persons at his office chamber here today, Gaikhangam said that the residents of Moreh and other villages near the Indo-Myanmar border are often disturbed by the intrusion of Myanmarese troops inside the State's boundary.
The Assam Rifles personnel have been instructed to remain alert to prevent any unwanted incident along the border.
The dispute pertaining to Indo-Myanmar border fencing would be settled soon by conducting a joint survey with Myanmar authorities, the Deputy Chief Minister noted.
