Following the release of an abducted driver, the All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' and Motor Workers' Union has decided to call off its proposed strike slated to commence from Tuesday.
A tata truck driver, Chanambam Gyaneshore (35) of Keinou Thongkha of Bishnupur district, was abducted by suspected faction of UTLA from a place in between New Kaiphundai and Leingangpokpi along NH-37 in Tamenglong district on Dec 19.A source said that the abducted driver was freed and reached Jiribam around 6.30 pm today.
He also met the drivers' union there.
The transporters' union had earlier announced a bandh on Imphal-Jiri highway and Tiddim road from Tuesday.
