Imphal West most thickly populated district in State

A one-day workshop about data dissemination of Primary Census Abstract 2011 was held today at Classic Hotel under the aegis of Directorate of Census Operations, Manipur.
Deputy Director of Census Operations, Manipur Dr N Roshini Kumar moderated the workshop.
Directorate of Census Operation (DCO) Senior Consultant Dr Kh Sumati presented a paper on "Household, population and 0-6 population PCA 2011, DCO Senior Geographer Dr Manimohon Meitei on "SCIST and literate and illiterate PCA 2011", DCO Compiler Dr N Sanajaoba on Worker (Agriculture labour/cultivator) and non-worker PCA 2011 and DCO Senior Consultant Dr Th Amumacha spoke on "Worker (Household industries and others and non-worker PCA 2011"). Earlier in the morning, 34 officers and four staff of Census Directorate were felicitated with different awards for diligence and timely collection of census data.
According to the Primary Census Abstract 2011, total population of Manipur till March, 2011 was 25,70,390 and Imphal West was the most thickly populated district at 856 people per square kilometre.
With population distribution of 821 people per Sq Km, Thoubal is the second most thickly populated district.
Male-female ratio is 1000:992. Total scheduled tribe population is 902740.Rural ST population is 791126 while 111614 ST population live in urban areas.
Overall dacadal growth rate was 48.6 per cent.
