PFA rescues Moor hen

Rescue team of People for Animal (PFA) today rescued a pair of Moor hen (Gallinula chloropus), which were bought by shopkeepers of Thoubal bazar from a poacher.
According to a PFA statement, the male bird was bought for Rs 500 while the female was sold at Rs 450. Later, a shopkeeper from Thoubal Bazar informed PFA to collect the two birds from them.
Shopkeepers of Vision care, Medic World, Gopal Enterprises and Elangbam Enterprises jointly handed over the birds to the PFA team.
The birds got injuries at their necks supposed to be caused by net strings.
The birds were found to be given first aid by applying ointments by the noble shopkeepers.
The female was later given three stitches at its neck at PFA shelter.
They are now treated at the PFA shelter.
Meanwhile, the PFA also nurtured two baby Eastern grass owls (Tyto longimembris), handed over to them by one Laishram Nanao of Iramsiphai on Dec 6, at its shelter.
They would be released as soon as they attain adulthood, the PFA said.
