Awareness rally on women empowerment held at Senapati

Senapati, September 10 2022:
To commemorate the 250th birth anniversary of Raja Ram Mohan Roy, District Administration in association with District Library Senapati and Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation organised an "Awareness Rally on Women Empowerment" at Senapati today.
The rally was conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Speaking to media persons, HL Jain, CEO, ADC Senapati stated that Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a great social reformer who stood for the rights of women.
The CEO also recalled the contributions made by Raj Ram Mohan Roy including abolition of Sati, property rights of women, rights for widows to remarry, education of women and prohibition of polygamy & child marriage.
RK Urmila, Chief Librarian, State Central Library Imphal mentioned that the title "Raja" was given by Mughal emperor, Akbar II as the leader was apparent in the field of politics, public administration, social reformer and renaissance.
"He was called the Father of Modern India and Renaissance.
He mastered a number of languages including Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic, English, Hindi, Bengali, etc", she added.
