It may be mentioned here that, in 2014, after the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana was launched across the country, Member of Parliament Dr Thokchom Meinya assured to develop the above mentioned villages as model villages but no steps have been taken up till date.
President of Western Sporting Club, Ngairangbam Khundrakpam Ibomcha told media that various infrastructure development plans were made under the SAGY including road repairing, blacktopping inter village roads, construction of retaining walls for community ponds, construction of valley dam along the Maklang river to facilitate proper irrigation facilities for farmers, upgrading existing water supply system, construction of mini stadium, improving existing Government schools, upgrading the existing Public Health Centre to Community Health Centre, market and waiting shed construction etc.
Two years have passed but the concerned authorities have not taken up concrete steps to develop the three villages into model villages, he said.
Villagers are anxious to know why the authorities are delaying the developmental works.
The villagers have earlier contacted the DC, officials and stakeholders urging them to take up developmental works as promised.
However, the villagers have received no positive response from them till date.
Imphal West Student Club, Khumbong member said various developmental works were promised by the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) to villagers.
Concerned authorities have failed to deliver what was promised to the villagers.
"It is uncertain whether funds for development has been sanctioned or not and the villagers demand details," he said.
He further urged the State Government and other authorities to initiate steps to develop the three villages into model villages before the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
