Blockade still on, declares UNC

Senapati, November 06 2016:
To clear the air of confusion on the status of the ongoing agitation, the United Naga Council (UNC) has said today that its indefinite economic blockade along the National Highways and the ban on the construction of Trans Asian Railways, Jiribam to Tupul railway and National projects imposed since the midnight of November 1 in 'Naga territories' has been intensified and added that anyone defying it 'will be at his/her own risk' .
The UNC said today that it is compelled to give this clarification as rumours of the ban and blockade being lifted are spreading "like wild fire from the lips of our adversaries and its agencies" to the general public just to sabotage our democratic movement.
In this, the UNC reiterated that it will not lift the ban and the economic blockade till such time it receives a 'positive response' from the Government.
The UNC fervently appealed to all 'district apex organisations', tribes, frontal and regional organisations of women, students, youth, Church leaders, political leaders, social activists, village headmen/chief/chairmen to support and co-operate with the ongoing "democratic movement to protect and defend our ancestral land and rights" .
