Covid claims one more, positive cases cross 1.20 lakh

The cumulative number of Covid-19 positive cases in the State has crossed 1.20 lakh while the death toll has risen to 1855 following the death of a resident of Kamjong district.
The victim had co-morbidities and he was not vaccinated, according to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and Covid-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
Altogether 158 persons including two personnel of CAPF were confirmed positive out of 2320 samples tested during the last 24 hours which implies that the positivity rate is 6.8 per cent.
The 158 positive cases were detected at RIMS (13), JNIMS (17) and other testing centres (128), and the 156 civilians are residents of Imphal East (34), Imphal West (72), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (8), Kakching (2), Ukhrul (6), Churachandpur (12), Chandel (2), Senapati (2), Tengnoupal (1), Pherzawl (4), Kamjong (7) and Kangpokpi (4) .
Pherzawl recorded the highest positivity rate at 23.5 per cent followed by Kamjong 9 per cent, Imphal West 8.7 per cent and Churachandpur 8 per cent.
Meanwhile 101 COVID-19 positive persons who were undergoing treatment under home isolation (40), JNIMS (4), CCCs (51) and CHICs (6) have been discharged during the last 24 hours as they have recovered.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 1,20,584 (general population 1,16,298 and Central security personnel 4,286) .
This figure includes 2,263 active cases (general population 2,132 and Central security personnel 31) and 1,16,466 recovered cases (general population 1,12,316 and Central security personnel 4,250) .
The recovery rate as on Thursday is 96.58 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1033 D-type oxygen cylinders and 228 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the State.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the State has reached 16,99,995 (1st dose 12,23,272 and 2nd dose 4,76,723) .
This includes 10,025 doses administered on September 29 .
As enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, COVID-19 beds available at different health care centres are RIMS (general beds 197; ICU/HDU beds 23), JNIMS (general beds 39; ICU/HDU beds 8), CMC (general beds 28; ICU/HDU beds 8), Iboyaima Hospital (general beds 25; ICU/HDU beds 5), Jivan Hospital (general beds 20; ICU/HDU beds 5), Shija Hospital (general beds 54; ICU/HDU beds 38) and Raj Medicity (general beds 74; ICU/HDU beds 22) .
