Doctor on duty found dead

Ukhrul, June 12 2014:
An AYUSH doctor, who was part of a medical team to organise a mega health camp at New Tusom village under Jessami Block in Ukhrul district, was found dead in his room yesterday morning.
Dr G Sushil Sharma (33) s/o Naoba Sharma of Uripok Gopalji Leirak, along with a team of doctors visited the village to organise a mega health camp.
He was an AYUSH doctor under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
Dr Gopeshwar, who shared the room with Dr Sushil, found him lying breathless at around 5.30am.Jessami Police have registered a case of unnatural death though the exact cause of his death can be ascertained only after post mortem examination.
The health camp was conducted as scheduled on June 11 in memory of Dr Sushil.
More than 250 villagers including children were examined and provided medicines free of cost.
The camp was jointly organized by 41 Assam Rifles, District Health Mission Society, Ukhrul and CMO Ukhrul.
The District Health Mission Society conducted a condolence meeting in presence of Sushil's family members, SDO Chingai, OC Jessami, officers of 41 AR, medical staff and staff of NHRM, Ukhrul at the District Hospital premises yesterday.
CMO/DMD Dr Ng Raikhan condoled the untimely demise of his young staff.
He shared grief and sorrow with the bereaved family.
Jessami Police along with the family brought Sushil's body to Imphal.
Meanwhile, Officiating Commandant of 41 Assam Rifles Lt Col Sunil Kumar MS, along with the other staff and Med professionals from the State Health Service paid homage to Late Dr Sushil, who passed away yesterday at Tusom, in a ceremony held at Somsai garrison.
A press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) said that Dr Sushil was a medical officer of Chingai PHC.
He was a member of the medical team from Ukhrul District Health Mission Society, who had joined the medical team of the Assam Rifles for the mega medical camp at New Tusom, the press release added.
The sad demise of the medical officer, who had volunteered for a noble cause is a setback for the rural health service of the State.
Major General Rajeev Chopra, IG AR (South) extended his condolences to the family of the departed soul, added the press release.
