CYCLONE, TRAU, CHAMP ease to wins in MNCA Elite Tournament

Imphal, March 16 2024:
CYCLONE (Thangmeiband), TRAU (Kwakeithel) and CHAMP Cricket Club (Khagempalli) all won comfortably in Saturday's 8th MNCA Elite Tournament matches.
A collective effort with both bat and ball propelled CYCLONE to a resounding 62-run victory against RULE (Meitram) in their meeting at Lairenjam Public Ground, Imphal.
Put in to bat, CYCLONE racked up a competitive 241/9 with efforts from Muhammed Al Bashid (59), Aditya Prasad (44), Maisnam Raju Singh (41 not out), Loktongbam Santosh Meitei (36) and Rohit Singh Moirangthem (22) .
The Thangmeiband side then bowled out RULE for 179 in 40.5 overs.
Both Bikash Singh and Abdul Kasim inflicted major damage on their opponents, taking three wickets apiece.
Nongthombam Denin did his bit with two scalps and Loktongbam Santosh Meitei got one to help CYCLONE wrap up the win in dominating style.
Earlier, Rojit Singh Angomcha took four wickets, Nongthombam Sarojkumar Singh picked up three and Thokchom Kishan Singh bagged two for RULE.
TRAU outclassed MODEL (Singjamei Chingamakha) by 66 runs at Public Ground, Khangabok Part-Ill Cherapur, Thoubal.
TRAU posted 259/8 when asked to bat.
Pukhrambam Prafullomani Singh (53) and Priyojit Kangabam (53) led the innings, with substantial support from Priyojit Kangabam (39), Bishworjit Singh Nongmaithem (35) and Anand Naorem (32 not out).
TRAU then took 37.1 overs to stop MODEL'S run chase for 193 as fighting knocks by Robertson Singh Laishram (52), Langlonyamba Singh M (44), Thoudam Deepak Singh (35) and Bijenkumar Singh Nongmaithem (32) went in vain.
In their victory, Mutum Swabhiman was the standout performer for TRAU as his lethal spell earned him five wickets.
Anand Naorem impressed with three wickets while Priyojit Kangabam grabbed two.
Earlier, Robertson Singh Laishram snapped two wickets while Sunil Salam, Su-son Yanglem Singh, Dibak Naorem and Langlonyamba Singh M each got one for MODEL.
CHAMP, meanwhile; beat ESU (Wangkhei Palace Compound) by 52 runs at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Imphal.
CHAMP decided to bat and made 187/9 with contributions from Md Sultan Karim (60), Leikhram Johny Singh (52), Narsingh Yadav (18) and Moirangthem Thomas Singh (17) .
In the process, they lost two wickets each to Chitaranjan Sharma, Lourembam Dipu Singh, Sanatomba and Chongtham Mehul Shreth.
In reply, ESU faltered in their chase after being dismissed for 135 in 40.2 overs.
Ravi shone with the ball for CHAMP with four scalps while Mohd Ahsanul Kabir picked up two, with Moirangthem Thomas Singh, Md Sultan Karim and Thingbaijam Nicholson Singh each taking one in their convincing win.
