Teachers of government higher secondary school on Saturday stormed the CM's Bungalow demanding clearance of 11 months' pending salaries of higher secondary lecturers.
They have also cautioned of taking recourse to cease-work protest if their demands were not met.
Following the protest, some select representatives of the agitated teachers were allowed to go inside the CM's bungalow to meet CM N Biren and discussed the grievance of the teachers.
During the meeting, CM N Biren assured of releasing the pending salaries soon.
Later talking to media persons, a lady teacher working at the history department of Lamlai Higher Secondary School, said that although the teach ers who were appointed on contract basis in 2018 were regularised by the state government on April of 2022, the authorities are yet to release the salaries and issue the appointment orders of the teachers.
As a result, the teachers have not been able to enlist in the Manipur Government Employee List, she pointed out.
She demanded the authorities to release the pending salaries and issue the appointment orders before the imposition of code of conduct of the Lok Sabha elections.
