The 14th edition of Medical Society Conference (MESOCON) was held today at the Jubilee Hall of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal.
The conference was organised by the Medical Society of RIMS under the theme "Emerging Challenge and Newer Horizon in Modern Healthcare" .
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Director Professor Laishram Deben said that doctors must be aware of emerging technologies in healthcare and challenges in medical sciences.
Chairman of RIMS's Medical Society Professor Y Govindaraj Singh said that the objectrive of hosting MESOCON, an annual programme of medical professionals, is to share ideas on health related issues.
He said that the conference was held during Covid pandemic too.
Saying that medical science has been progressing rapidly with the emergence of Artificial Intelligence and robotic and nano technology, Prof Govindaraj added that people in medical profession need to update their knowledge regularly.
Different experts also spoke at MESOCON 2024 .
He said that medical students can learn valuable lessons from the conference and interact with the experts.
Entertainment programme was dropped in this year's conference due to the prevailing situation in Manipur.
RIMS Medical Superintendent Professor N Sanjib and Dean (Academics) Professor Brojen Akoijam also attended the programme among others.
