Cultural exchange prog held

Extending solidarity to the people displaced by the ethnic strife and staying in the relief camps, a cultural exchange programme was held at Kakching Wairi Kongoi community hall on Sunday.
The programme jointly organised by Management Committee Angaan Ching Eco Park Kakching, Ideal Youth Association (IYA) Kakching Wairi and Youth Union Club (YUC) Kakching Wairi under Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) and Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Kakching along with Vishwagramga in Gujarat was attended by displaced people who are taking shelter at Kakching Wairi Kongoi relief camp and SC/ST Girl's Hostel Kha Manipur College Kakching relief camp.
During the programme, Baulbagshah Madhusudan Baul from Gujarat and his team performed Gujarat's folk song and inmates of the relief camps presented Manipuri folk songs.
The cultural exchange programme was attended by MCPCR chairperson Keisham Pradipkumar as chief guest, CWC Kakching chairperson Naorem Kumari as president, state immunization officer Dr Kshetrimayum Memcha Devi as Guest honour and Management Committee Angaan Ching Eco Park Kakching co-ordinator Surjit Kshetrimayum delivered key note address.
Speaking at the programme, Keisham Pradipkumar said that the ethnic strife that broke out on May 3 last year has displaced more than 70,000 people forcing them to take shelter in 342 relief camps.
Out of the displaced people, 20,000 are under 18 years of age.
As the future of Manipur lies on the youth and children, they should be educated and make them stay calm and happy, he added.
