Zougal Day observed in CCpur village

CCpur, March 16 2024:
The 107th year commemoration of Zougal Day-2024 was held Saturday at Zougal cemetery complex in Behiang village of Churachandpur district bordering Myanmar.
The event was attended by Singhat MLA Chinlunthang, Mizo Peoples Convention (MPC) president Rina, Paite Tribe Council (PTC) president K Suanthang and Zougal United Organization (UZO) leader Muan Tombing besides other leaders.
The commemoration was marked with hoisting of UZO flag by UZO president Thang-zamang, offering of floral tributes to 99 Zougal warriors who made supreme sacrifice during the war with the British and condolence service for slain warriors.
It was followed by the main commemoration programme held near the Zougal memorial stone.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Chinlunthang appealed to all the tribe leaders, leaders of CSOs, Church leaders and leaders of Kuki-Zomi community to remain united so that the demand for a separate administration could be achieved one day while noting that steps in this regard have been taken up at the leadership level.
K Suanthang, Muan Tombing and Rina also spoke at the event and stressed the need for maintaining unity at this hour of crisis.
They also appealed to people not to take things lying down.
