Imphal, March 16 2024:
The 14th annual Medical Society Conference (MESOCON) 2024 was held under the theme "Emerging Challenges and Newer Horizons in Modern Healthcare" at RIMS Jubilee Hall, here, on Saturday.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of the conference hosted by the organizing committee MESOCON 2024, JNIMS director Dr Laishram Deben said that no matter how good or excellent a doctor is in his/her respective field, if they do not provide enough time to his/her patients, they are of no use at all.
A doctor should understand the problems of the patients and try to solve them in the best way possible.
All kinds of misunderstandings and issues between patients and physicians can be overcome when there is proper communication between them.
Stating that the present developed condition of RIMS has been made possible due to good leadership, he acknowledged that the current status of RIMS is not due to the work and dedication of a single person but because of teamwork.
A good leader is one who does not think of his status and conducts all works irrespective of big or small, high or low.
Dr Deben further stated that despite the central government announcing free diagnostic faculties for different ailments, a number of diagnostic machines have been left unused due to lack of diagnostic tools, reagents and skilled persons.
Though the government of India had launched e-hospital in 2017, there has been various challenges faced at the implementation level.
New advanced technologies need to be invented to enable existence of a modern healthcare system.
Treatment system has now become patient centric from the earlier doctor centric approach and as such doctors need to provide enough time to the patients.
The function was also attended by RIMS medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh, RIMS dean (Academics) Prof Akoijam Brojen Singh, Manipur University registrar Prof W Chandbabu, MESOCON 2024 organising chairman Prof Y Govindaraj Singh, organizing secretary Dr Ch Gyan Singh and Dr Sagolsem Chandarani as presidium members.
