Imphal, March 16 2024:
Candidates of the GD Constable Exam 2022-23 belonging to the Meitei community have alleged irregularities in the exam's merit list for the State of Manipur.
The GD Constable Exam 2022-23 was conducted by the SSC.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, one Malemngaanba Heisnam, speaking on behalf of the candidates, said that there were 597 vacant seats for the State of Manipur including 555 for male candidates in the GD Constable Exam.
The GD Constable Exam was held for recruitment to Central Armed Police Force, Secretariat Security Force and Assam Rifles.
Classification of vacant seats for Manipur was unreserved-209, SC-17, OBC-92 and EWS-70 .
But 232 candidates were selected against the SC category while one candidate was selected against OBC category as per the merit list brought out on Friday.
Moreover, Unreserved, SC, OBC and EWS seats were left vacant, Malemngaanba said.
The single candidate selected against the OBC category was the one who underwent medical test together with candidates of ST category, he said.
Asking the relevant authorities how they finalised the merit list without selecting any candidates against Unreserved, SC, OBC and EWS categories with the exception of the single candidate selected against OBC category, he decried that the recruitment authorities were discriminating against non-ST candidates.
Seeking immediate attention of the Government to these alleged gross irregularities, he sought justice for all the candidates allegedly victimised by the SSC.
