Protesters torch effigies of leaders

Thoubal, June 30 2023:
Denouncing the failure to contain the ethnic violence in the state, Thou-bal Keithel Mathak Makha Potpham Phambi and Meira Paibi of four Thoubal localities burnt effigies of state and central leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union home minister Amit Shah and chief minister N Biren on Friday at Thoubal bridge.
During the protest, pedestrians as well as passengers were halted for a while and the protestors shouted slogans condemning the acts of Kuki militants and Assam Rifles.
They also demanded restoration of peace at the soonest possible and denounced alleged indifferent attitude of the central government.
