Imphal, June 30 2023:
Maintaining that it is not the time for MLAs and ministers to resign but to stand united, Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has advised the chief minister to convene an all-political party meet, take concrete decisions on narco-terrorism and against aggression by illegal immigrants and Kuki narco-terrorists.
Addressing media persons at Lamphelpat UCM office on Friday, COCOMI coordinator Jitendra Ningomba stressed the need for the government to take firm stand and initiate measures to uproot narco-terrorism and combat aggression by the illegal immigrants in Manipur.
At this time of juncture all the MLAs, regardless of differences in political affiliation and ideologies should work in the interest and welfare of the public, he added.
Jitendra also stated that the state's legislators should not invite President's Rule as it is akin to challenging the democratic rights of the people.
Moreover, the central government should bear the responsibility if any unwanted incidents happen in the state due to the imposition of President's Rule, he cautioned.
Meanwhile, COCOMI submitted a memorandum placing the said demands to the chief minister and appealed to him to look into the matter of some individuals trying to mislead the masses for their vested interests.
