On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, Muhamad Sabir Ahamad from Kwatha Khuman who has set up a relief camp at his residence offered a special Eid luncheon to the victims of violence who have fled from Churachandpur, Torbung, Bangla, Kangvai, Saiton, Watha Lambi, Waikhurok and other areas and found refuge here.
It may be noted that the relief camp was set up privately by Muhamad Sabir Ahamad after the eruption of violence on May 3 .
The Eid luncheon was organised without any festivities simply to foster the spirit of brotherhood and offer prayers to Allah to restore peace and normalcy in the State of Manipur which has been besieged by violence and mayhem for almost two months.
Speaking to the media, Md Sabir stated that he set up the relief camp upon witnessing the suffering of the displaced families who had lost their homes and belongings to arson or had fled their villages out of fear.
Feeling a sense of responsibility towards his distressed and vulnerable countrymen, he set up the relief camp at his residence and is currently providing sanctuary to 62 displaced persons from various districts.
Being a private relief camp established at his residence, barring a few, Md Sabir has not received a lot of help to meet the necessities of the inmates.
In this regard, he vowed to safeguard the relief camp inmates until the chaos and violence subsides.
However, despite all his efforts, he cannot meet all the necessities of the displaced families.
Thus he appealed to the State Government to bring about an amicable resolution to the conflict and bring normalcy back into the lives of the suffering citizens.
Separately, Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (S) celebrated Eid-Ul-Zuha with the locals of Lilong area at Jama Masjid in Thoubal district of Manipur yesterday.
Troops of Assam Rifles distributed sweets, offered prayers and later joined the locals in a celebratory feast on this auspicious day.
Assam Rifles personnel also conveyed their best wishes to all the families who had gathered for the celebrations and spread the message of peace and prosperity and urged locals to work towards creating a better future for Meitei Pangals.
