Imphal, June 30 2023:
Apart from condemning the joint statement issued by 15 civil society organisations (Lups) amidst the ongoing war against Narco terrorists spearheaded by COCOMI, the Coordinating Body of Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee, Manipur (CBSTDCM) said that the 15 Lup should tender public apology for issuing the statement which has the potential to spark public outrage and nuisance.
While clarifying that public nuisance is being created by 15 Lup and not by organisations demanding ST status and people supporting the demand, a statement of CBSTDCM said immaturity of the 15 bodies have been exposed with their conclusion that ST status demand is the root cause for the ongoing violence and simply saying that ST status demand is breaking apart Manipur.
As resolved during the People's Convention organised by COCOMI on June 7, a Manipuri National War against Narco-Terrorism was declared and people came out voluntarily to join the ongoing war.
However, the 15 organisations (Lup) cited demand for ST status of the Meetei/Meitei as the reason for the violence and fatalities, CBSTDCM said adding that the statement issued by 15 Lup at this crucial juncture is akin to supporting Kuki-Chin Narco-Terrorists openly.
