Relief efforts continue to pour in

As Manipur continues to reel under unabated spells of violence and social instability with thousands being displaced by the resulting acts of violence, human kindness and generosity still shines through as aid pours in continuously from all quarters.
In this vein, many from the Maram community, namely, the Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA), Maring Students Union and Maring Napuiya Yeingalam distributed essential items to three relief camps in different localities of Thoubal district.
Speaking at the distribution of relief materials at Heirok Higher Secondary School, Lamding Higher Secondary School and Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex, K Yaima Maring, president, MUA expressed grief at the series of unfortunate incidents that have occurred since the eruption of violence on May 3 .

He also offered prayers to the Almighty for the lives lost in the conflict to rest in peace.
He added that since May 4, prayers are offered everyday for half an hour at Waithou Phunan Baptist Church to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
Separately, under the supervision of Thoubal Apunba Lup, New Ideal Club Athokpam Khunou has extended relief materials to inmates at Moirang, Oksu and Sugnu relief camps today. The relief team was flagged off from New Ideal Club Complex.
AK Jibankumar, secretary general, TAL informed the relief items have been donated by social worker Sarungbam Bimol who hails from Yairipok Yambem Makha Leikai.
Separately, Anganwadi workers of Anganwadi Wangbal Sector 6 under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Thoubal Project pooled their money to extend aid including essential commodities and sanitary pads to the inmates at Rice Research Centre Khangabok relief camp.
It may be noted that 258 displaced people have currently taken refuge at this relief camp.
