Displaced Tangjeng folks visit abandoned home

Imphal, June 30 2023:
Villagers of Tangjeng Ahallup, who fled their homes and are taking shelter in relief camps since May 27 following attack by armed Kuki militants, are being facilitated to visit their abandoned homes for lengthy hours every day under the close watch of police and Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) deployed ip the village.
Linger the, joint initiative of Kumbi MLA S Premchandra, Bishnupur SP Balaram Heisnam and 49 ITBP assistant commandant Dhirender Kumar Yadav, the villagers were allowed to return to their homes to collect essential items left behind as well as engage in agricultural activities.
Speaking to media persons, Tangjeng Ahallup Youth Development Organisation president W Subashchandra expressed elation that the villagers are able to stay at least for some moment at their respective homes, many of which remain intact due to constant vigil by the police and ITBP personnel.
He also expressed gratitude to assistant commandant Dhirender Kumar Yadav who had taken utmost care to protect the abandoned village.
