Rioters burn waste collection vehicles

Imphal, June 30 2023:
Two waste collection vehicles, which were parked on the side of road in Keishamthong area, were set on fire by unknown miscreants during the protests on Thursday night.
The two vehicles, which included a Tata Dipper and a smaller vehicle, belonged to Khaba Waste Management System Manipur, a private company working under Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) .
In this regard, Keishamthong Moirang Ningthou Leirak Meira Paibi president Th Manglembi said that it is not known who set fire to the two waste collection vehicles.
During Thursday's protest, the Meira Paibi members stayed on the road well after midnight and the vehicles were seen untouched.
However, it was found torched on Friday morning.
She condemned all acts of vandalism on private properties amid the people's protest and as such urged all concerned not to repeat such acts in the future'.
She also appealed to the state government to find and arrest the culprit(s) responsible for the arson.
