CBSE affiliation case: Inquiry Committee formed to probe issuance of NOCs to 25 schools

The State Government has constituted an Inquiry Committee to probe the issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) for affiliation to CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) by unauthorised persons/officials in respect of 25 educational institutions from Manipur.
Now, de-affiliated, the 25 schools had earlier obtained "NOC" without the knowledge of the State Government and were even listed as schools newly affiliated to CBSE.
After the State Government and Education Department's intervention, the schools were later de-affiliated recently.
The 25 schools are all situated in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts.
Meanwhile, the Inquiry Committee that has been instituted include L Nandakumar Singh, Director, Education-S as Chairman, Bisheshwar Khumukcham, Additional Director, Education-S/ Valley as Member and Dangmei Manglem, Additional Director, Education-S/ Hills as Member Secretary.
An order issued to this effect said the committee will probe and find out officials/officers responsible for issuing the NoCs without following due process.
It will find out if signatures have been forged in the NOCs.
The committee will recommend appropriate action against responsible officers/officials .
In case of any evidence of forgeries, appropriate legal action will be taken up by filing FIR, said the order.
The Inquiry Committee shall furnish its report to the State Government by January 5, 2024 .
