Search ops continue, weapons recovered

As combined teams of central and state forces continue to conduct search operations, a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from various places on Wednesday.
According to a police report, a combined team of 33 Assam Rifles, Lilong Police and Thoubal district commando carried out search operation in Lilong Turel Ahanbi and Leiphrakpam areas from 7.30am till 12.30 pm Wednesday.
During the operation, the team recovered one 1A tube launcher, 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition, one 36 HE hand grenade, one stun grenade, one smoke grenade and two Baofeng radio sets with charger from Leiphrakpam.
The seized weapons were handed over to Lilong Police Station for further course of legal action.
Another team of 33 AR, BSF and Thoubal district commando searched Kwarak Maring village from 4.15 till 6pm Wednesday and recovered one AK47 with magazine, one 9mm pistol, three pistol magazine, one 9mm CMG with magazine, three AK47 Bayonets, two INSAS Bayonets, one Motorola radio set, three 36 HE hand grenades and three stun shells.
The weapons have been handed over, to Thoubal PS for further legal action.
Meanwhile, a joint team of Kakching district commando and police along with women personnel conducted search operation at Kakching Phou-supat and Supermarket from 6am till 7am Wednesday.
In all, 50 houses were searched and 70 people verified.
However, no arrests or recovery of weapons were made.
On the other hand, a team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on duty at the mobile check post, Kangvai apprehended four men along with single barrel gun and 10 rounds during checking-frisking operation carried out in the area on Wednesday morning.
The four individuals have been identified as Job (47) s/o Agai of Peren, Kohima, Anuwar Hussain (26), David (21) and Sayed Ahmed (22) .
As per a report, the CRPF halted a Maruti Alto (WB 24 R 6016) around 9.30 am Wednesday and checked it, during which the weapon was recovered.
