Bishnupur, December 27 2023:
Moirang assembly constituency denizens have clarified that the incident on Tuesday involving residents of relief camp opened near INA Headquarters, Moirang at Moirang MLA Th Shanti Singh's residence at Moirang Philem Leikai was due to miscommunication.
Addressing the media at Phi -lem Leikai on Wednesday, a woman, speaking on behalf of Moirang denizens, stated that the MLA's office had no prior information regarding sit-in protest to be staged by relief camp residents in front of INA Headquarters, Moirang on Tuesday to press for their demands.
But as the protest was being held in area under his constituency, the MLA invited the agitators for talks during which the said incident occurred due to miscommunication, she reiterated, while adding, the MIA has always kept his door open for relief camp residents staying in Moirang.
The woman, however, disapproved the camp residents planning to take out a protest and using derogatory words against the MLA and people of Moirang.
Mentioning that people of Moirang have been living with the displaced persons with love and brotherhood, she noted that the needs and wants of the relief camp residents are being looked after by the government and public.
Meanwhile, in another press conference held at Kwakta Khuman Maronglou on Wednesday, one Jakir Ahmed Thoubalmayum said that the role played by Moirang MLA Th Shanti amidst the ongoing conflict is praiseworthy.
It is very unfortunate that attempt was made to defame the MLA, which seems politically motivated and appealed to all concerned to refrain from tarnishing image of the MLA.
