Film Forum Manipur and the Manipur State Kala Akademi have condoled the demise of well-known actor and painter Naorem Ahanjao Singh.
N Ahanjao who acted in several hit Manipuri films such as Thambal, Kanaga Hinghougani, Asiba Thawaigi Mami, Aroiba Bidai, Nongju Ahing, Meichak-Meichak, Meehatpa and Chang Shi Chang breathed his last on December 25 .
The Manipur State Kala Akademi, in its message, said that N Ahanjao was born in 1948 at Thangmeiband Thingel Maru and he was passionate in pursuing Fine Arts especially painting from an early age.
He completed his Diploma in Fine Arts from Imphal Art College in 1989 .
Saying that Ahanjao was closely associated with Manipur theatre, especially Rupmahal Theatre as a background scene painter beside being a freelance artist, the Akademi continued that Ahanjao also worked as a book illustrator and was awarded for his illustration in the book "Wari Lee Khongun Lee" written by RK Manisana Singh.
He was also a much sought after artist engaged in painting posters for Manipur cinema halls, it added.
While extending its condolence, the Akademi prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
The Film Forum Manipur also mourned the demise of N Ahanjao and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
