Imphal, July 08 2023:
BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda has stated that due process has been initiated against the 10 MLAs who raised the demand for a separate administration.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, Sharda said that they have talked with the 10 MLAs who have been demanding a separate administration and BJP Manipur Pradesh has recommended necessary action to the party's Central leadership.
It is the party's National leaders who should take action against the rebel MLAs, she said.
The demand raised by Congress party and its allies for resignation of Chief Minister N Biren is akin to supporting narco-terrorism, Sharda said.
She maintained that the Government of Manipur never gave consent nor expressed support to some people's demand for granting ST status to the Meitei community.
It is rather unfortunate that some political parties have been trying to portray the Government in the wrong light as if they are oblivious to the disastrous impacts of illegal influx and massive poppy cultivation, she said.
It is known to the public that the Congress party schemed to disintegrate Manipur on several occasions.
The ongoing people's struggle is to protect the integrity of Manipur, Sharda saia.
The present day struggle of the public was necessitated by the Congress party's divide and rule policy, she said.
When die Congress party was in power, they paid no attention to the State's integrity and did nothing to establish lasting peace.
But the BJP Government has been standing firm for the common interest of Manipur.
It was these corrective measures initiated by the BJP Government which gave rise to a difficult situation, Sharda said.
The Government has been working to check the influx of illegal immigrants, massive deforestation and extensive poppy cultivation.
The Government's eviction drive was not restricted to any single community, she said.
"As I was asked to table a report on the situation of Manipur during a meeting of BJP North East Zone held at Guwahati recently, I went to the meeting to present a report to the BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) but the Congress party floated a false propaganda that I went to an election campaign meeting", Sharda said.
BJP has not taken up any programme related to elections, she clarified.
