Imphal, July 08 2023:
Residents of Tongbram Kollup in Bishnupur district, particularly the womenfolk have urged for replacing com-mander of the BSF Company (Coy) deployed in the area, after the latter ordered for the Coy to retreat from the location.
According to a report, on the intervening night of July 6 and 7, Kuki militants attacked Phougakchao Awang Leikai but the BSF personnel stationed at Tongbram Kollup neither retaliated nor defended the area.
The BSF personnel had not received any exact order from the top officials to fire against the Kuki militants and as such.
they did not retaliate.
Taking advantage of this, the Kuki militants forced into the area and the BSF personnel had to retreat.
On Saturday morning, a BSF team moved into Tongbram Colony and reclaimed the bunker.
Stating that the violence in the area will continue until commander of the BSF Coy deployed in the area is replaced, the locals recounted that the previous commander was able to control the violence, while the incumbent officer barely steps out of the camp and lacks details of the prevailing situa-tion.
Thus, they appealed to the authority concerned to replace the commander but continue deployment of BSF personnel in the area.
