Steps taken up to enable farmers tend to their fields

To avoid casualty, Inspector General AP/Ops IK Muivah has asked all the farmers to not go to their paddy fields without giving prior information to the Superintendents of Police (SPs) concerned and added that special security arrangements to enable farmers tend to their fields have been taken up.
Addressing the media at Manipur Police Headquarters here today, the senior police officer continued that certain measures have been taken up to provide security coverage to farmers while resuming agricultural activities at sensitive areas.
Saying that the farmers are unable to go to their fields due to the volatile situation, he said that police nonetheless have made some arrangements for agricultural activities to resume safely.
IK Muivah informed that MR and IRB personnel earlier deployed as house guards of some VIPs and Government officials have been called up to guard the farmers in their work.
As per the senior police officer, 822 personnel of MR and IRB have been called up to provide security coverage to the farmers in Imphal West while 298 personnel have been signed up to protect the farmers in Imphal East.
The number of State security personnel who have been called up for deployment in paddy land of other districts are Bishnupur (236), Kakching (204), Thoubal (147) , Chura-chandpur (300) and Kangpokpi (200) .
IK Muivah continued that further arrangements will be made to ensure the safety of the farmers after proper discussion with the respective Agriculture office.
He stated that State police and Central security forces have been carrying out massive search operations in vulnerable and fringe areas.
