Imphal, July 15 2015 : Categorically rejecting the three months time sought by the Government to prepare a new legislation to regulate the inflow of non-local people into Manipur, the Students' Wing of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System has demanded that a fresh legislation should be prepared within ten days and the same passed accordingly.

The 57 MLAs also stand boycotted, added the Students' Wing of JCILPS.

In a statement issued to the press today, the Students' Wing of JCILPS said that the Government has finally realised that the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill should be withdrawn and a fresh legislation be passed.

However seeking three months time to prepare the fresh legislation amounts to trying to throw mud into the eyes of the public.

There is no way the Students' Wing of the JCILPS will agree to the three months time sought by the Government, it said and added that it will not compromise with the Government in any effort to save the indigenous people of the State.

The Students' Wing of JCILPS has also asserted that it had nothing to do with the act of torching some portions of a school at Kakching and appealed to all concerned not to repeat such act.

The students' wing also appealed to all concerned to relax restrictions on its members, media persons, essential services including water supply, medical personnel and to all those out on religious functions during the course of the agitation.

Curfew however will continue on Government institutions excepting educational institutes and health.

Coming down heavily on the canards spread against it and its movement, the Students' Wing further said that certain elements have been claiming that they are 'forcing' students to take part in the protest.

This is nothing but an attempt to throw the movement in the wrong light, said the Students' Wing and reminded that students all over the world have been taking part in any protest to pursue a cause.

Instead of acknowledging the contributions of the students to the present voice of protest, Education Minister M Okendro talked about deploying security personnel at all educational institutes, said the Students' Wing.

Such a move will only invite more sustained movements, warned the Students' Wing.

It is time for the Government to realise that students have the interest of the land and the people much more than the Ministers and MLAs.

Sapam Robinhood today stand as a martyr for the indigenous people, asserted the statement and added that the late student has shown his true commitment to a cause.

This is something for the Ministers and MLAs to acknowledge.

Trying to hoodwink the people with false claims will not work.

It is a shame that the Government woke up to the need to withdraw the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill only after Sapam Robinhood was killed by the police.

The Students' Wing further questioned why no action has been taken against the police personnel who killed Robinhood.
