Manipur People's Party (MPP) expressed strong displeasure over the State Government's decision to take three months' time in introducing a new Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) bill.
In a special House Session on Wednesday the controversial Manipur Regulation on Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill 2015 (MRVT & MW Bill) was withdrawn.
During the one-day Assembly Session Chief Minister O Ibobi announced that a fresh ILPS bill would be tabled on the floor of the House within three months.
A sit-in was staged by MPP leaders, including its president Nongmeikapam Sovakiran, in front of the party office near Polo Ground.
The party organized the protest against the State Government for adopting 'delaying tactics' over the ILPS issue.
On the sidelines of the demonstration, Sovakiran said the delaying tactics adopted by the Congress Government headed by O Ibobi is a 'criminal delaying tactics' .
The MPP leader said action can be taken against the Government under the Criminal Act for deliberately sidelining the issue pertaining to the people's demand for implementation of ILPS to regulate the influx of non-locals into the State and protect its indigenous people.
Sovakiran demanded the Government to come out with a strong legislation to safeguard the interest of the indigenous people without delay.
