Imphal, July 15 2015 :
Even as JCILPS executives have turned down Chief Minister Okram Ibobi's invitation for talks, the civil society organisation which is spearheading the ongoing pro-ILPS movement has written to the Chief Minister clearly mentioning their conditions for talks on the issue.
In a statement, JCILPS said that the committee is not willing to accept the Government's proposal to pass a Bill within three months.
It said that an ILP Bill which can effectively protect the indigenous people of the State must be passed by the State Assembly within 15 days.
JCILPS further said that the ongoing agitation would be intensified with the support of the public if the Assembly Secretariat fails to issue a notification regarding the matter by 4 pm of July 16 .
The second point mentioned in the letter of JCILPS was the demand for awarding befitting punishment to the police personnel who were responsible for Sapam Robinhood's death and inflicting injury to the protesters.
JCILPS said that they would never talk with the Govt until these demands are fulfilled.
Reiterating its demand for ILPS implementation, JCILPS said that the State Government took only one week in drafting MRVTMW Bill 2015 .
As such, it is not reasonable to seek three months time for drafting a new ILP Bill, the statement said.
Maintaining that JCILPS has no faith in the State Government's promise, the committee urged the general public to carry on the democratic agitations.
Saying that JCILPS is standing firm in their movement for ILPS implementation, the committee said that people have clearly seen the Government's ploy to sideline the issue by seeking three months time to draft a new Bill.
