Imphal, September 20 2023:
Warning of a stringent agitation, the Youths of Manipur (YOM) has urged State MPs to discuss Manipur issue during the ongoing Parliament session without fail for a solution.
Members of Parliament from the State should move a Adjournment Motion in the Parliament to discuss the Manipur crisis and bring about a solution, said YOM.
Such a motion needs the support of 50 Members to be admitted, and when admitted, it leads to setting aside the normal business of the House for discussing the definite matter of urgent public importance raised.
In a statement, YOM said the appeal was made as it was disappointed with the State Government's inaction on resolutions taken earlier.
While the MPs introduce the Manipur issue in the Parliament, the Ministers and MLAs camping in Delhi should give detailed reports of all developments till date, said YOM, apparently seeking the results/reports of their meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the past few days.
"On the other hand, all other Ministers and MLAs who are not in Delhi should clarify and give reasons for not going to Delhi" .
Further, all of them (Ministers and MLAs), irrespective of their political affiliation, should go to Delhi and raise their voice before the end of the ongoing Parliament session, said YOM.
Stringent agitations will be launched if the MPs fail to move the adjournment motion and discuss Manipur issue in the Parliament, said YOM.
Manipur is reeling under ethnic violence between Meitei and Kuki since May 3, when ATSUM's "Solidarity March" turned ugly in Churachandpur-Bishnupur border area.
Men armed with AK-47 Rifles were seen among the protesters taking part in the "Solidarity March" .
